When a parent imagines holding their baby for the first time, they picture everything that comes after. Diaper changes, first steps, bedtime stories, whispered prayers for a good night’s sleep. Those are the moments that shape a family.
At PCC, we see those moments every day. And we believe that preparing for them is just as important as the big ones. That is why our Earn While You Learn program is such an important part of our ministry.
What is Earn While You Learn
Earn While You Learn is a free and confidential program for expectant mothers and fathers. As parents complete short, practical lessons on pregnancy, parenting, finances, and healthy relationships, they earn credit they can use toward baby and maternity supplies.
A parent might complete a lesson on newborn sleep safety. After watching a video and talking with a volunteer, they receive credit to redeem in our Baby Boutique for diapers, clothing, or a car seat.
Why it matters
Parenting does not begin the moment a baby is born. It begins when a parent says yes to learning, preparing, and choosing hope over fear. Many of the parents we meet are facing uncertainty. They may be wondering how they will provide for their baby or find safe housing. Earn While You Learn meets those needs and reminds each parent that they are not alone.
We see how much it changes things, one step at a time. Confidence grows as parents learn, prepare, and begin to see a path forward.
How it works at PCC
• A parent meets with a Client Advocate to choose lessons that fit their life. Maybe prenatal care, newborn sleep, toddler routines, or finances.
• For each completed lesson, they earn credit they can use in our Baby Boutique.
• The boutique offers essentials like diapers and wipes, baby clothing, maternity gear, and other necessities.
• Fathers and support persons are welcome to participate and learn alongside the mother.
• All services are free and confidential. No judgment. Just care and encouragement.
Real life, real change
One father shared, “When I completed the lesson on baby safety, I felt like I was stepping into a role I cared about.”
Another mom said, “The credits helped me pick out a car seat that I never thought I could afford. But the lessons changed how I saw myself and my baby’s future.”
How you can support the program
• Donate new or gently used baby gear, maternity clothes, diapers, wipes, formula, or gift cards.
• Hosting a baby gear drive through your church or workplace makes a real difference.
• You can also pray with us. Every lesson completed is a parent saying, “I believe I can do this.”
